Top 10 Tips for Healthy Lifestyle for Moms & Growing Healthy Kids

PIN FOR LATER!

Today on my “healthy mama blog”, I’m sharing my top 10 tips for a healthy lifestyle for moms and growing healthy kids! Being “healthy” means eating salads and green juices every day of the week, right? No way! And thank goodness because I don’t know about you, but my growing, healthy kids and I, well…we love us some pasta and comfort food from time to time (**read a couple of times a week).

“Healthy living” really runs so much deeper than just the foods you eat. Yes, the kinds of foods you eat are one of the most important aspects of getting healthy and staying healthy, but it’s not the entire picture.

To keep you and your entire family feeling your best with growing, healthy kids, (now and in the future when they get older), you have to prioritize your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. These areas are all interconnected with one another and impact your overall well-being.

Once I learned this and actually practiced this in my own life, I started to see a drastic change in my health, my happiness, and the way that I show up as a parent.

And trust me, I know how easy it can be to fall into the routine of calling quick delivery for the night, staying up late to get “mama time” and skipping your workout in, especially in the winter!

Healthy on the inside and out

Remember that being “healthy” isn’t just how you look on the outside. The mamas who get back their body in 3 weeks could be dealing with hormonal and mental health issues. And that is just as important as getting your pre-baby body back.

And at the same time, if you’re eating like crap, lathering your body with toxic products, not getting enough sleep, and brushing off your daily movement, that’s going to take a toll on your body and it’s no wonder you feel fatigued, anxious, moody and feeling blah.

Your wellness should take into account all areas of your life to be truly happy and healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle should be simple because if it’s hard, it won’t be sustainable! This is why I’m all about living that simple lifestyle.

Slowly Start Building Healthy Lifestyle Habits

I suggest starting with one or two habits and build new ones on top of each other. Healthy habits are key to living a long and healthy life and growing healthy kids.

Once you integrate healthy habits into your daily routine, they won’t take as much energy to do them. You’ll just automatically order your organic foods from your Misfits Market order every week, automatically grab for your journal in the morning instead of your phone, cook on your non-toxic cookware, and you’ll be happy to hit the hay at 9:00pm instead of midnight!

To help give you an idea of what healthy habits you can incorporate to start living a healthy life as a busy mama, here are my top recommendations on healthy practices. I love to include these in my routine to promote overall happiness and wellbeing for not only me, but my husband and my 2 and 3 year old.

10 Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle for Growing Healthy Kids

  1. Eat an organic whole foods diet: Honestly, the easiest way I made this consist has been from ordering from Misfits Market. Especially during the pandemic and cold. (I hate dragging the kids out to the store with me). So ordering a big order from my phone each week is so stinking easy!

You can get $10 OFF your first order at Misfits when you use the link above (and you can cancel at any time!)

I also am a huge fan of Sunbasket because unlike other meal delivery kits, this one is all organic! If I’m having friends over or the grandparents over, I’ll be sure to get my order in so I can make a delicious, healthy meal for every, including my growing, healthy kids. If you click the link above, you can get Get $90 OFF across your first 4 orders! Mamas, this is a game-changer! And you can skip weeks or cancel at any time which is awesome too.

2. Get movement in daily: Even taking the kids around the block a couple of times is great! Or you can take them out to play tennis or bike ride. Make exercise fun for you and the kids.

3. Use non-toxic products: I love Branch Basics household cleaners and LOVEEE Osea Skincare products!

4. Schedule in fun outings with friends (we all need laughter and connection in our lives)

5. Read mindset and personal development books

6. Learn how to communicate (go to therapy if needed...online options): Learning how to community with your partner and your kids (no matter what age) is key to having a happy and close family.

7 .Watch your social media/phone usage (it’s easy to compare yourself): Social media detoxes are a must- for moms and kids! I’ve taken over a month off of social media and it’s changed my life. My stress and anxiety have completed gone away and I find that I have so much more time back in my day!

8.Breathwork (deep breathing) & Journaling. A couple of breaths help keep your cool during meltdowns and reduce your stress and journaling is a great way to release bottled up emotions.

9. Ditch the plastic: plastics are EVERYWHERE! And they are hurting our own health and our growing healthy kids’ health! Microplastics are even in our waters. (If you live in PA, about 90% of water in PA has microplastics. In fact, you’re drinking a credit card’s worth every week!).

SOO, ditch all your plastic containers and replace them with glass and mason jars, and invest in a high-quality water filter. You can read my other blog about the 5 biggest changes you can do to create a non toxic home for your family.

10. Ditch your clutter (keep your home clean and cozy) THIS IS HUGE FOR ME! I love living a simple life. Fewer things mean less mess and less time picking up the mess.

For me, healthy living is exciting, motivating, and lifts my optimism of life. I believe the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle are worth any “sacrifice”  my family and I “have” to make. But to be honest, it doesn’t feel like I’m sacrificing anything!

We love living this healthy lifestyle and when you start to incorporate these healthy practices into your own life, you’ll start to experience this gratitude and relief too. It makes raising growing healthy kids so much easier!
